Breeding Quality Samoyeds since 2012
Welcome to Renaissance Kennels. Here at Renaissance, we are resurrecting the beautiful, spunky Samoyed to the glory it deserves. We have hand-selected several top quality specimens who we will be using as our foundation stock. We are working on establishing the proper traits of this wonderful yet unappreciated breed; once we have secured the proper genetic traits, we will then begin working on bringing the genetic scores up to the best quality possible.

The Samoyed Standard

The Samoyed is a very playful, friendly breed, as well as being a dilligent and hard worker. The Samoyed is an ideal breed for families, especially with small children, as they remain playful up into old age, but are still gentle and easily trained. The Samoyed has the heritage of a sled dog, and retains the natural instinct to pull; Samoyeds can also be trained to properly pull sleds and carts. Samoyeds also have natural herding instincts, thus making them ideal for all sorts of sporting events ranging from carting, mushing, and obedience to herding, agility, and flyball. The Samoyed's trademark characteristic is their happy, "smiling" expression, in addition to their long, pure white double coat.

Here at Renaissance, we are very proud of our pack of Samoyeds. Established from shelter dogs, our Samoyeds are bred to not only meet the standards of Samoyeds but to exceed them. We raise solid white Samoyeds only - all other colors and patterns are a disqualification, and any Samoyed of an additional color and/or pattern will be altered. Another disqualification in Samoyeds is blue eyes; while brown eyes are most preferable, we are currently accepting other eye colors except for blue, and any Samoyed with blue eyes will be altered as well. We breed for quality over quantity, as well as for both proper standards and high genetics. In short, you can be sure that a Renaissance Samoyed is the best quality available on the network.
The Boys
Ren. Murder He Wrote "Moriarty" - Moriarty is the foundation stud of our Samoyed line. Moriarty was born on 5.28.11; he was a spliced pup born to a shelter bitch of unknown lineage. Moriarty was the first of our Samoyeds to correctly meet enough important standards to be considered a full Renaissance Samoyed. His only standard faults are his ears (large), and his tail (short). Moriarty scored 2 qualities, 1 fault, and 57/100 on his genetics test. We plan on using him at stud to both correct his faults as well as concrete his own correct traits in future generations.

The Mascots
Ren. Bright Side of Life "Pep" - Pep is the patriarch of the kennels, and was adopted from the shelter as a retired boy to keep our Samoyeds company. Pep is a UKC registered Light Black Patterdale Terrier with White Undersides. Although he has been retired from showing, Pep remains a beloved mascot for our kennels, and takes it upon himself to keep the little ones in line. Pep has 2 qualities, 1 fault, and scored a 73 on his genetics test.
Ren. Tessitura of Stonebriar "Tess" - Tess is a Blue Bi-Colored Border Collie from our sister kennel, Stonebriar Kennels. Tess had been reserved by another breeder who never came to claim her; so, rather than having her altered and sent to the shelter for rehousing, we simply took her in. When we took her in she was 5 years of age. She has not been bred and probably will not be due to some inconsistencies in her genetics for the breed; however, Tess does enjoy her outings in the show ring, where she struts her Stonebriar stuff. Tess has 2 qualities, 0 faults, and scored an 86 on her genetics test.

No kennel can be complete without an active breeding program, and Renaissance Kennels is proud to boast the finest Samoyed breeding kennel on the network. Using tried and tested breeding and pup raising techniques, Renaissance has made it their mission to produce only top quality Samoyed pups for the SD network. Our lines are currently private. This means that we will not be selling off any pups to any public breeder. If you are a Samoyed breeder and are interested in reserving a pup from Renaissance, please message us; we may be able to work out details for future litters.
Our Future Stars
Ren. Murder He Wrote "Moriarty" - Purebred Samoyed; Spliced x Shelter Foundation Bitch; 10/12 correct traits (lacking ears and tail); Born 5.28.12

Renaissance Kennels has been built on hard work, dedication, and more than a few extradorinary Samoyeds. While we don't have the space to mention all of the wonderful Samoyeds who keep the gears of Renaissance turning, we have set aside some space here to mention a few of the most notable Renaissance Samoyeds:
Ren. Murder He Wrote "Moriarity" - Moriarty was our founding stud for our Samoyed line. Bred from a shelter bitch with unknown lineage and the genetics lab, Moriarty boasted 10/12 correct traits, the most of any Samoyed of his time. Without Moriarty, the Renaissance line could not hope to boast the proper breed standards that we strive for

Renaissance Kennels is run by a veteran of SDN; as such, we have had years of experience in the running of kennels. This experience has influenced our policies heavily, and we have set in place many operations, policies, and standard procedures that we believe are the key to a kennel's success.
On Breeding:
All breedings at Renaissance are carefully planned out. We exert careful research to examine what stud and what bitch will go best together in order to produce the best combination of correct standards and high genetics. Because of the rarity of the Samoyed, litters are very rarely open to public reservation. If you interested in reserving a future Samoyed puppy, please message us, and we will do our best to work out details and an estimated timeline for you. Bitches are usually bred on Fridays for Monday litters.
On Pup-Rearing
Once pups are born, they are given a call name based on a litter theme. They are cared for and observed until they are 6 months old (generally Thursdays). At that point we make decisions concerning what pups will be kept on at Renaissance, what pups will be offered for private sale/used to fill prior reservations, and which pups will be altered. At this point any breeders with prior reservations will be notified, all pups retained at Renaissance will be registered with a show name, and all altered pups will be sent to the shelter for rehousing as pets.
On Reserving/Purchasing a Renaissance Samoyed Puppy:
The reservation process at Renaissance is not a simple one. If you are interested in reserving a pup from Renaissance, you must firstly message us with your interest. We will then review your kennel as well as the goals you wish to achieve by purchasing a Renaissance puppy. Once we have given your kennel a review and have cleared you to purchase a Renaissance puppy, a $250 deposit is required; this deposit is required before the litter is born, and possibly before it is even bred. Because of past issues with breeders flaking on reservations, this deposit is absolutely essential to secure you reservation; if you have not paid the deposit, you will not be put on the reservation list. Once we have recieved the deposit, we will continually converse with you on what you are expecting from a Samoyed puppy from Renaissance. We will then work together with you on finding the perfect puppy to suit your needs and goals. If a litter that we are waiting on does not produce a pup that fits your desires, you can move the deposit to another future litter, and the process continues. Purchasing from Renaissance is not a cheap thing; because of the rarity of this breed as well as the quality of our sale pups, a purebred Samoyed puppy from Renaissance will usually run $600-$1200, not including the deposit fee. Please do not try and haggle with us to lower the price; we have set the prices of our pups based on what we believe to be fair for our pups, and we will stand by that choice.
All pups from Renaissance come in full health, fully vetted, and with their first shots; they will also come with a handler, and, if purchased after 10 months of age, will most likely have been exhibited in at least one show. Once you have purchased the puppy, it is your responsibility; however, we would prefer for the puppy to remain in your care for the remainder of its life. If you decide to sell the puppy to another Samoyed breeder, please notify us of the transaction so that we can continue to work with the new owner. If you no longer want the puppy, please notify us and we will discuss buying it back. If we have sold you a show/breed quality puppy, we would prefer for you not to alter it, as the number of show-quality Samoyeds is very slim. Most importantly though, we simply ask that you do not allow the puppy to end up in the shelter. A lot of work and care has been poured into our Samoyeds, and we hate to have it go to waste through the shelter.
On Kennel Tags:
At Renaissance, we have a very strict tag policy. We believe that credit should be given where credit is due; as such, we as that any and all pups or dogs bred by Renaissance retain our tag, "Ren.", somewhere in there name. How and where you place the tag is completely up to you; we are aware that many breeders organize their kennels by the layout of their dogs name, so we will not ask to interfere with that set-up. All we ask is that "Ren.", "Renaissance", or some variation is given in the name. This goes for ALL dogs bred by Renaissance, regardless of where you purchased it. While it will be rare to find an intact Samoyed in the shelter, we ask that you keep our tag even in those names; the dog will most likely have it in their name, so please respect the breeder and leave it in the name.
In the same manner, Renaissance will respect any and all kennel tag policies from breeders that we purchase from. Our format for other kennels' tags is "Ren. Name of Kennel". This is the only format that we will use for other kennel tags. We are one of those breeders stated above that organizes our kennels based on name layout, so in order to keep our kennels clean and free from confusion, all names will take the above format. We will keep tags in any dog not bred by us though, regardless of where we purchase them (shelter included).
