Welcome to Stonebriar Kennels. For seven years, we have been comitted to creating excellence in our breeds on the SDN channel. Most famously known for our Border Collie line, a line which founded almost every BC line on SDN and produced innumerable champions, we have also taken excursions into several other breeds, including German Shepherds, Siberian Huskies, American and English Foxhounds, and Labrador Retrievers, among others. We tend to focus on one breed at a time, ensuring that our line correctly portrays all twelve trait areas according to AKC standards. Once our line is dominant in all proper characteristics, we then focus on raising genetics to ensure our lines are the strongest quality possible. In order to both improve and maintain the purity and quality of our line, we typically operate only on a private or semi-private basis.

9/8/2014

Time has been a bit of a complication lately, but we have finally worked through last week's pups. We have retained 4 pups from the Mage by Water litter; all four of these pups have SpSp genes, the first pure dominant Spotted pups born to our kennels. We are incredibly excited to see how these pups integrate into our kennels. We have also whelped two litters this week (one of 6 pups and one of 8 pups), and we are still expecting three more litters this week. More information on these litters will be posted once available.

8.31.14

We bred one litter this week (Wind by Water) which resulted in 4 pups. Out of these pups, we retained one male, Orion, and one female, Canis. Both of these pups have 11/12 correct traits. We are expecting two more litters next week, both 1st x 2nd sting litters.

8.21.14

We have finished the evalutions for this week's pups. Out of the four litters, 7 pups will be retained; the remaining pups will be altered and adopted out. We are still focusing primarily on solidifying the SpSp spotted coat gene in both black and brown, and this week's group will assist this endeavor nicely. Among these pups were two specific standouts. Sanguine, out of Comedy and by Warrior is a Black Spotted bitch with 11 out of 12 correct traits. She is an exemplary example of the Dalmatian standard in our current kennel, and we look forward to seeing what genes she passes on to her offspring. Additionally, Diamond, out of Peace and by Tragedy is the highest gene pup we have bred to date in our current kennels, testing in at 0 faults and 76 genetics. He is a Black Ticked dog, which is unfortunately against standard, but he does carry the sp Spotted gene; thus, he will be used for breeding, but not showing.

At Stonebriar Kennels, we are currently focused on improving the Dalmatian breed. Due to the game's infrastructure, the Dalmatian is one of the unfortunate breeds that suffers from genetic traits that are not recognized breed traits. In RL, these genetic traits would cause a Dalmatian to be disqualified from AKC standards; in some cases, these genetic traits don't even exist in the breed. Because of this, the Dalmatian on SDN is in quite a state - we aim to fix this. First and foremost, we are focusing on solidifying the only coat that is accepted under AKC standards: the incredibly recognizable spotted coat of Dalmatians, in either black or liver (brown). Once we have ensured that this appearance is dominant in our Dalmatians, we will then focus on the remaining traits of the Dalmatian standard. Our Stonebriar Dalmatian Standard, based off of the AKC Dalmatian standards, is as follows:

Dalmatian Standard:

Ears: Large (LgLg)

Eyes: Brown, Blue, or Variants (NO Albinism)

Teeth: Good (ClCl)

Nose: Medium (MM)

Elbows & Hips: Excellent Movement (NfNf)

Coat Color: Black or Liver (Brown accepted, but not preferable)

Coat Pattern: Spotted (Slightly Spotted accepted, but not preferable)

Coat Length: Short (SS)

Tail: Long (Medium is accepted)

Height: Medium (MM; Large accepted)

Weight: Normal (NwNw)

Behavior: Attentive, Energetic (no vices)

Stonebriar Kennels has a long history in the show ring. For seven years, Stonebriar has produced innumerable champions who have graced our Hall of Fame. We hope that our Dalmatian line will one day join these champions in our esteemed records, bringing glory to their breed and their name.

Stonebriar Kennels uses the following prefix and suffix abbreviations to denote achievements:

* =  Denotes IKC Registration  [Prefix]
CH =  7 Show Champions [Prefix]
GCH =  15 Show Champions [Prefix]
MCH =  5 Champions in at least 2 Different Disciplines [Suffix]
SCH =  5 Show Champions in Registration-Only Shows [Suffix]

One of the most important aspects of any working kennel is a quality nursery. Over the seven years that we have been active, Stonebriar Kennels has established solid policies to ensure the highest quality breeding program possible. Before breeding, we compare every possible combination, choosing one that we believe is a foolproof recipe for success. Once bred, we will decide whether or not we will accept reservations on the litter. If we decide to open the litter up to other breeders, we will begin the reservation/breeder selection process. When pups are born, they stay with their mother for a minimum of 6 months, who is shown during that time. Afterwards we wean them and keep them for an additional 8 months, working to improve their qualities. Once they are 1 year, 2 months old, we will release them to their new owners. Typically, we breed on Saturdays for Monday/Tuesday pups or Sundays for Tuesday/Wednesday pups.

Until we have concretely established our Dalmatian lines and solidifed all proper genetic traits, we are operating as a PRIVATE kennel. As a closed kennel, we will not be accepting reservations for any litters. Additionally, all pups that are bred at Stonebriar Kennels that are not retained will be altered before being adopted out. Once we have ensured that our Dalmatians are proper representations of the breed, we will open our kennels up to a SEMI-PRIVATE operation.

Stonebriar Kennels has been built on years of hard work and dedication, through numerous failed attempts and successful tries, and through a love and devotion for the breeds that we raise. Over the years, we have set many policies into motion here at Stonebriar in order to ensure the most efficient kennel operations possible.

Showing Policies: Our dogs are continually shown, all in their proper classes. Club registration is our ultimate showing goal, and we work hard to acheive that status. We try to show every day, while taking a day off every now and again to give our dogs a rest. One of the highest honors for a Stonebriar dog is to join our hall of fame ranks of IKC registered champions. In the past, Stonebriar proudly held the record for the most club registered Border Collies at any one time, and we strive to continue upholding this show mentality. We also follow champion title rules, and to reach the title of CHampion or GCHampion is the ultimate achievement for a Stonebriar Prospect.

Care Policies: Stonebriar Kennels provides nothing but the best care for our dogs. Specially formulated diets are created for each dog, and only the finest materials are used. Our dogs are fully groomed every day, as well as have check-ups every day, and routine shots every week. Specialized vitamins and treatments, such as coat vitamins, eye drops, and extra dental care, are given to those who are in need of it. Our dogs are played with, exercised, and rested daily. All pups are trained using various methods, all tested to prove which ones are most effective for that particular dog, daily, until they are 2 years of age. At Stonebriar Kennels, we do not treat our dogs as simply an investment, or "some show animal" - at Stonebriar, they are family!

Sale policies: Once we have bred two dogs, we will usually offer a few of the pups for sale, as well as the occasional adult. However, because so much work has gone into our dogs, we will not let them go to just any home, we do have a few requirements for buyers. Firstly, you must leave Stonebriar or SBK in the name of the dog, where you have it is your preference (front, middle, back). Secondly, you must never allow that dog to go to the shelter. We work too hard to keep our dogs top quality for them to simply end up at the shelter. If we find that a dog that we have sold you has ended up in the shelter without a viable excuse, you as a kennel will be blacklisted on our sales list, either temporarily or permenantly. Please do not haggle over prices. The price we are asking for a dog is set in stone, and we will not lower it, so please do not ask. We price our dogs on what we think is fair, and therefore will stand by it. Also, do not ask to buy a dog and/or pup that is not for sale. If we have a litter of pups and have not yet specified what pups are avaliable, do not message us asking for a specific pup. Once we say who is avaliable, feel free to inquire about pups that are available. Do not however expect us to sell you a dog that is not for sale, because we will not. We have every right to retain any dog and/or pup, and begging for a pup that we have decided to retain will not change our minds about it - it will only change our minds about whether or not you are actually a reputable buyer. For the most part, as long as you are a responsible owner, and promise to care for the dog, you should have no problem with being welcome as a buyer to Stonebriar Kennels.

Adoption Policies: Stonebriar Kennels often, usually once a week, makes shelter runs to find new blood to infuse into our line. We generally adopt dogs who are either shelter-made or have been in the shelter for some time, but occasionally, we may pick up a dog that ended up in the shelter "by accident". If this happens, and you were the previous owner of the dog, do not ask for it back. We believe that once dogs go to the shelter, they are free game for all. If any of our dogs go to the shelter and are picked up by others, we do not ask for nor do we expect to get them back, and therefore we adhere to those rules on the opposite side of the situation as well. So, unless you are a close friend of ours and/or we have worked out the details of the adoption mix-up previously, we will most likely not give "your" dog back to you. We apologize for any inconvenience, but gifting back dogs is simply too much of a hassle and a complication for us, and we do not feel that it is necessary or ethical in any case.

Spay/Neuter Policies: We are a semi-private line: this means that in order to purchase a Stonebriar Dalmatian, it must be purchased directly from us, or from someone who purchased it directly from us. Most SDN breeders are usually approved to purchase from Stonebriar Kennels (see our Sale Policies for more information); this goes for both reserving and/or purchasing a pup or buying an adult who we have decided to cut from our lines. However, you will never see an intact Stonebriar Dalmatian directly from our kennels in the shelter. When pups are offered for sale, we give them one week to be purchased by other breeders. After that week is up, we will alter the dog before letting it go to the shelter. Adult dogs will be offered for sale for two weeks, and if they have not been spoken for within that two-week time span, they will be altered and sent to the shelter as well. Our dogs have had a lot of work put into them, and we would prefer for our dogs to be put to proper use that we approve of. Any altered Stonebriar Dalmatian found in the shelter may of course still be shown, but it will not be able to be used for breeding purposes. Stonebriar Dalmatians have the capacity to pass on the high quality genes of Stonebriar Kennels, and we want to make sure that they are being properly used as breeding stock, and not simply being picked up from the shelter and used to breed randomly. If you purchase a dog directly from us, we ask that you do not alter the dog, unless you have a valid reason for doing so. Altering a breedable dog purchased directly from us violates the Code of Quality of Stonebriar Kennels as well, in the sense that you are taking away the ability for them to be responsibly bred after we have accepted you as a reliable breeder. The only exception to this rule is if the dog has already exceeded the breeding age limit (8y for bitches, 9y for dogs).

Tag Policies: Here at Stonebriar Kennels, we are extremely strict about tags being left in names. We believe that credit must be given where credit is due, and as such will ensure that all of our dogs not bred by Stonebriar Kennels retain their original tag, whether we bought the pup from the breeder, another breeder, or the shelter. If we bought a dog from you and you did not breed, we will not keep your tag in it - we will change the tag to the breeder's tag, so that they may get credit for the dog that they produced. All of our dog's are named in the following format "Stonebriar tag name". Stonebriar will always go in the front of the dog's name - we are sorry if you want your tag first, but in order to keep our kennels clean and organized and to have a uniform pattern with all of our dogs, the prefix Stonebriar will always be the first word in the dog's name. Following our prefix will be your tag, in bold, so that it is easily definable as the breeder's tag. The tag will then be transcribed into the possesive form - meaning, your tag will be followed by a " 's" to show that your tag has claim to the dog. When it comes to our tag, you MUST keep our tag in any dog's name that comes from Stonebriar lines. If you buy a dog from us which we did not breed, feel free to remove our tag, but if we bred the particular dog, it is required to keep our tag, "SBK", in the name. You may place our tag anywhere in your dog's name, whether it be front, middle, or back. Where is completely your preference, as long as it is in there. If we see that you have a pup that we breed and you do not have our tag in the name, we will message you and ask you to please replace the tag in the pup's name. If you refuse, you will most likely be blacklisted, either temporarily or permenantly.

Stonebriar Kennels is run by me, Sarah. It was established in 2007, and although I have taken several breaks from SDN, I seem to always return. I am a senior at Austin College majoring in Theatre and English. On campus I am a member of the Psi Chi and Alpha Chi National Honors Societies and I am the President of Alpha Psi Omega, the National Theatre Honors Fraternity. I am also a member of the Austin College Improv Troupe, the Austin College A Capella Choir, and the female vocalist group Descant. I am currently directing a senior mainstage theatre production as well as working on my senior thesis, so my time here will definitely be tight. I'm usually pretty chill to talk to, so if you have any questions, comments, concerns, or just want to talk, feel free to shoot me a message!
